This year’s garage sale was another huge success with a record 120+ houses taking part! The weather was overcast but no rain other than a small shower around 2pm at which point most sales were wrapping up anyway. Sellers told me they had tons of buyers and sold lots!

With that many people all trying to get to the sales, parking was once again an issue and unfortunately a few bylaw officers were handing out tickets. Kind of put a damper on an otherwise great day, but as the bylaw officer told me, the law is the law.

Anyway, thanks again to all of the households that participated! I hope everyone had a great time and sold lots! Until next year….

It’s back! The 9th Annual West Cloverdale Neighbourhood Garage Sale sponsored of course by me….Scott Moe! This year’s sale will be held on Saturday April 28th, 2012. Registration forms and emails have already started coming in. Last year we had over 100 homes participating which generated A LOT of interest and buyer traffic. So if you are thinking of having a garage sale this year, this is the day to do it!

This just came across my desk and I thought it might interest some of you….

Well, I had yet another fun day giving away pumpkins….this time at the Trick or Treat event at the Holiday Inn in Cloverdale! Well over 500 trick or treaters were in attendance and I gave away complimentary pumpkins to all the kids. Great day had by all! Here’s a short video of what we were up to…

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Well….we did it! This year’s Annual Scott Moe Pumpkin Drop took place today, October 22, 2011, and we set a new record! This year we delivered a whopping record 1,000 pumpkins to various Cloverdale neighourhoods!!

Thanks again to my awesome crew of friends, family, and team members that helped me do it all! It was great to see all of the neighbourhood kids running up to our truck to grab a pumpkin and hear them yelling “Thanks Scott Moe!”

The weather was hit and miss….but we had a blast! It started out pouring rain. Then by 9:30am it was sunny. Pouring again by 11. Sunny by 12. And pouring again by 1pm!

And guess what? We’ll do it all again next year! HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL!

I’m glad to be participating in this year’s 2nd Annual Halloween Trick or Treat event at the Holiday Inn in Cloverdale! The event is on Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 10-2pm and all are welcome! I’ll be stationed at the front entrance giving away free pumpkins to the first 300 kids that show up in a costume. Inside you’ll find lots of spooky, decorated rooms, children’s games, and of course….trick or treating and refreshments!

It’s going to be a fun filled day so come on down and say ‘HI’! Hope to see you there!

The hot topic of the day is how the HST phase out will affect new home prices. Will buyers wait? Should they wait? Should they buy now?

The BC Provincial Government has a web site called HST in BC where the results of the referendum and other useful information are available. They also have a wonderful little calculator that shows you the cost of a home in BC, as of today, HST included, and after the HST is phased out.

What you’ll find is that the price of a home now with HST vs. a home with only GST is actually not that different. Here is the link to the calculator and some explanation as to why this is the case:

And of course there are many other factors which determine whether you should buy now or wait. For one, interest rates play a big role, and the rates right now are unbelievably low – but may not be this low forever!

This year’s garage sale was another huge success with over 100 houses taking part!  The weather cooperated for the most part and sales were brisk. In fact, sales were so brisk that with all of the traffic the police and tow trucks were out in the neighborhood ticketing and towing cars. Kind of a downer if you ask me, but I guess illegal parking is illegal parking.

Other than that, it was a great day and I was lucky to receive quite a few ‘thank you’ emails from people in the area. Here are a few that I received…
